Sky Bridge Trail #214, a semi-blacktop loop trail, leaves the Sky Bridge parking area and extends along a high narrow ridge to Sky Bridge and scenic overlooks - the main attractions are breathtaking overlooks into the Red River Gorge and the natural sandstone arch known as Sky Bridge.
Hiking the loop in a clockwise direction had us standing atop the sandstone arch in a mere 0.2-mile – the lofty perch providing spectacular unimpeded views of the surrounding gorge and national forest.
The loop trail passes over and beneath the 75 feet long and 23 feet high Sky Bridge, along an impressive sandstone ridge, and then up a flight of metal stairs (75 steps) back to the parking area – an absolute must-do trail if you find yourself exploring the Red River Gorge.
